The Review

Evening guys... Sorry for being in the dark for quite some time..had my hols u see...anyway, after watching The Dark Knight for 5 times(yes it's that good)..i think it's about time for me to express my humble opinion on the movie. Feel free to agree or disagree....

During the first screening of the show, I was pretty nervous to watch it for my expectations were really high since to me, Batman Begins was an excellent movie because it returned to the original story of batman unlike any other batman movies we've seen.

The Dark Knight was actually made famous by none other than Frank Miller. In 1986 he created a comic called " The Dark Knight Returns" and introduced to the world a more darker and intense Batman.

Christopher Nolan the director and writer of the movie followed closely to Frank Miller's version. Not necessarily the story but rather the theme of the movie. The lightings were created in a such dark colour that it makes us more focused on the message and that to me was brilliant. Plus he introduced us 2 main villains in the movie - the Joker and 2face. Now if the joker is in a batman movie, that would be more than enough to handle because you can explore so much of his unique relationship with batman... but Mr. Nolan connected the joker with the fall of heroism from Harvey Dent to 2face was not just fantastic but also memorable. The script to me was nothing like we've seen in any other batman movies before(including Batman Begins). In The Dark Knight, the words used were more serious and the message itself I thought was even bigger than the movie.

The actors/actresses in the movie did a brilliant job as well. We'll start off with Mr. Ledger.

Heath Ledger - Nicholson's joker is nothing compared to Heath's and those who does not agree can kiss my ass on this. The make up done on him was just CRAZY. He looked really sicked and twisted just like the joker in the comic book. Heath's voice on the character was unique as well and his laughing was just sick. Having to portray the joker is not easy at all because joker is crazy in a freakish and somewhat scary way. For you to be him you need to lose a lot of sleep, cut any social connection that you have with anyone and last but not least get into depression. Only then will you have a small glimpse of what the character is all about. Heath to me did deliver all this in the movie and perhaps even more. In the movie you love him because he's funny but at the same time you hate him because of the level of his cruelty. His joker will be the most memorable one for a long time to come....

Christian Bale - He produces an excellent Bruce Wayne...Unlike Val Kilmer's version that even a baby can tell he's the batman... What annoys me is the deep rough voice of batman. Yes by doing that it separates the two completely but sometimes he looks like he's just trying to hard...chill out man... Other than that to me he does portray the batman's characteristics... Batman is not perfect... he can't possibly do everything perfectly... and Bale does show that even batman have flaws...

Aaron Eckhart - He did a tremendous job on being Harvey Dent and 2face. he made me feel his passion and determination on justice and also the pain of transforming into the famous 2face. His character makes you think...had some things been done differently, would he still be fighting for justice? would he still have turned evil or lose the love of his life?

Gary Oldman - This guy was born to play James Gordan. He looks exactly like Gordan in the comics and his style is the same as the ones I've read. So he did good as well.

Morgan Freeman - His character Lucius Fox, has always been the comics and yes he is the CEO of Wayne Corp but he's not responsible for the creation of batman's suit and toys. Those are created by a guy named Harold who actually lives in the batcave. None the less, to me, Fox plays an important role in the movie because he's there to make sure that even the batman is not above the law. When things get into desperation, sometimes even the good people will lose their mind and do certain things that are not really "legal" or things that might jeopardize the publics safety or security. Fox was there to make sure that even the batman should play by the books no matter how important the agenda is.

Michael Caine - A good Alfred. He's there like a father figure to Bruce and like Fox, Alfred is there to make sure that Wayne doesn't go overboard. That the Batman is actually his second life and not his first. But I thought Alfred could have given more emotional expression especially when Rachel died. He didn't even mourn for her death.

Maggie Gyllenhaal - Delivered a good Rachel. I thought Katie Holmes connected more with the audience though. but Maggie was good as well.

Overall The Dark Knight to me delivered a movie that no other superhero movie ever taken us. Not even spiderman. It was the type of movie everyone could logically relate to in certain ways. As I mentioned, the message of the movie is bigger than the movie itself. If you don't what it is then I would suggest and watch it again. If you haven't then GO AND DO SO!

The long awaited updates for our blog.

Yes ladies and gentleman, we're back in business! or so it seems. I've finally decided to inject back some life into this blog with hopes of updating it frequently in the near future(Thats a friggin lie i know.Least I'll TRY.lol). That aside, I had a smashing time in Malaysia(no, not trying to make you guys jealous.) but at the same time faced a few various calamities though it isn't a cause of concern. DarkKnight was the bomb. period. Movie of the year 2008 candidate? you bet. I apologize for the crappy post but I'm still thinking of a topic to rant about. Perhaps Batman would soon awaken from his closet and start dishing out posts as well while saving the world(G mesti dah kembang). Anywayz, im off. Oh btw, guess what? TULULUP. haha.

The first video is from the latest episode of "so you think you can dance" american version. This is the dance routine of Katee and Joshua dancing with one of my favourite songs "No Air by Chris Brown & Jordin Sparks".. The theme of the song is Joshua will be leaving to Iraq tomorrow and Katee only found out the night before...the dancing moves are just awesome! kudos to the choreographers...

The second video is taken from " Britain's Got Talent". This is the semi-final routine of George Sampson who ended up winning the competition. Bare in mind, he's ONLY 14!

Reason number 3

Careful now kids....

R.O.B.O.....

That's Right! He's Back! and from what I've heard..WITH A NEW ATTITUDE!!! No one has been attached to the film yet...and I mean NO ONE!! but the film is scheduled to be released in two years time and the ratings will be R. R is like 18PL in Malaysia.... I'll post up new pics once i get them but so far there's only one...but I'll keep you guys posted. Really can't wait for this one.... You Go ROBOCOP!!

Track 12 : A Little Anarchy.....

Just got back from The Incredible Hulk but I'll save my comments for that one on a later day.

Here's another big news for The Dark Knight... I'm not sure whether this is accurate or not but I'm pretty sure it is since it's in the soundtrack. At the end of the movie, ANARKY will be introduced. Now I imagine it'll be something like how they introduced Joker in Batman Begins. For those of you who doesn't have a clue who Anarky is... well his costume is VERY similar to V For Vendetta. In fact, the creator of Anarky was inspired by V that he created Anarky in the Batman comics and no it's not Bob Kane. Who Anarky is?? well u either wait for the next Batman movie to come out or start googling him! Here's a pic of anarky...

Psyc 101

Here's one of the interesting facts I've learned in Psyc.

If you already know something.... your reaction towards someone's statement would be aaAAaa...

Example: "aAaaa... aku dah lama tau batman boleh cakap bahasa melayu.."

On the other hand....

If the knowledge is new to you...your reaction would be ooOOoh...

Example: "oooOOooh... aku tak tau pon batman boleh cakap bahasa melayu.."

Another good example: sonicthehedgehog in the chatbox. He already knows the existence of "Rock Band" and he acknowledged it with "ah"

My personal opinion or rather equation...

Someone who ONLY* uses aaaAAaa = POYO

so next time you're listening to someone's conversation.... try to monitor which "term" they use more. You can actually have a rough idea of the person's personality.

* = to be clear I'm not referring to sonic because I know he uses aaa and oooh. only in this particular subject he used aa.

The latest trailer for "The Dark Knight"

Sunday, May 4, 2008

1 2 3

So I went for Iron Man on the first day it came out. As expected the cinema was full even though it was an Imax sized cinema. Overall I thought it was an okay movie. I know by now most of you don't agree with me but seriously! I expected something more I guess. The action scenes that you see in the trailers are pretty much what it is in the movie...
Also, I think the movie focused more on Tony Stark rather then Iron Man himself because you could actually COUNT the number of times the suit appears in the movie.. Some might argue since this is an introduction movie, audience should know more of the guy behind the suit. Can't say that i disagree with that... I suppose i was just expecting more action from the suit. I mean look at "Batman Begins".... First half of the story was about Bruce Wayne(me) and the other half of it was all about Batman(me again).
But the Iron suit was spectacular. As much as I hate to admit it, it's way better than the bat suit. And the introduction of Iron Man was just amazing. How he came just in the nick of time to save the.......... ok ok! I won't spoil it for those of you who haven't seen it.

yes yes despite what I've just said, this is still a must see movie. Once is enough but twice is MORE than enough because it's not really one of those movies where you enjoy watching it over and over again. Only certain parts but not the whole thing(Take Superman Returns for instance).

For those of you who couldn't get enough of Iron Man, be sure to watch Hulk next month because he(confirmed), along with Thor(rumored) will be in it. Once again if you don't know who Thor is, please use the very efficient service of Google.

Hope

Robert Mugabe. Here's a guy who represents the word "selfish" strongly. Last year the country's inflation went up to 11,000% in just one month. That's hyper inflation at it's best! Even if you don't know what inflation is(i hope you do), you would still have logically thought 11,000% is bad. But Mugabe here stated that there was nothing wrong with the country and the economy was doing well(the things people do for money and power is truly amazing).

On March 29th, Zimbabwe had their presidential election and most people were very confident that the democrats will win it. The thing is, even after more than 3 weeks after the votes, the government still refuses to release the official result and have also demanded for a recount. This clearly shows that despite his dirty tactics of forcing people to vote for him, Mugabe has finally lost his power!

Now, a month after the election, with the help and pressure from the right people, the official result is out in the open. And to no surprise, the people have chosen to hinder Mugabe from abusing the country any further.I hope he does the right(which is to step down....) so the country can finally start to heal their bleeding country.

The Dark Knight

This is the latest poster of my movie "The Dark Knight". I don't think I need to tell everyone to go and see it because I KNOW you will. But before you go and see it, I think it is best that I clarify a few things about my latest movie.

  • This movie is NOT a remake of the first ever batman movie!
  • Therefore it should make sense that Heath's Joker is NOT the same as the old fart's Joker(Nicholson)
  • Harvey Dent will NOT turn into "Twoface" in this movie. Well at least not until the end(if you're wondering who Harvey Dent is...GOOGLE HIM!).
  • The scarecrow WILL be in this movie but I'm not sure whether his role will be as big as "Batman Begins"
  • The late Heath Ledger DID finish this movie but it'll be interesting to see his replacement in the next one.(of course there will be a third one! and yes joker is scheduled to be in it.... and please..... don't ask me about the penguin....)
  • my money is on Johnny Depp
  • This Joker will be doing a lot of killing (one of them was already introduced in Batman Begins...hint hint)
  • I know the old joker did a lot of killing too but the difference between these 2 Jokers would be WHO they kill.(this should be another hint and if you still don't understand then it's best that it stays that way)
  • The car will still be there and as you have seen it by now there will be a bat-cycle. I know it sounds and may even look funny but I can assure you that it does it's purpose ever so well. I'm not sure whether this is accurate but rumor has it that the bat-copter is in the movie as well.(Again if you don't know what it is then just leave it as that)
A new trailer should be coming out REALLY soon... probably in 5 hours time. If it is in fact a new trailer then I'll try to put it up.Later citizens,be safe.

Update on the trailer: it looks like the trailer will not be coming out very soon. Probably you will have to wait for a few more days. I have seen it though(because I'm in it duh!) and I've got to tell you it's amazing!

Alfred: "Will you be wanting the bat-pod sir?"
Bruce: "In the middle of the day Alfred? not very suttle"
Alfred: "The Lamborghini then.......Much more suttle....."

Glo Pillow

I don't know about you guys but alarm clock is a waste of time for me...because no matter how loud the damn thing is, i still can't wake up!(i know....I'm amazed myself too). Anyways, I was surfing through the net and i found this "Glo Pillow" thing. I'm not sure whether it's still a concept thing or it has already hit the market because there was not much information about it except on how to use it. Which is pretty easy..Here, have a look at yourself

-Set your alarm time ON the pillow
-Once the alarm clock hits, the pillow starts to glow

ditto.

Righto,
First up, I've never really been a fan of blogs. seriously. I do like reading peoples blogs once in awhile, cos it's fun to see how others express about themselves or whatnot. I've had one wayyyyyy back then and never bothered to update it even as of now. Don't know what convinced me to have a go at it again(sangapness perhaps) but i wont be pedantic and start to bore you guys with my daily ongoings. Not really that type of guy ya know to rave about my daily life? Maybe I'll talk about random stuff or maybe talk about absolutely nothing at all. Something out of nothing. Anyhowz. We'll see how it goes. Aku robin je kot...this is batmans blog ya see! I'm just the winger whom saves the day when the time is right(or not).Lol.

Introduction

this blog was created because

1. We were bored and had nothing better to do
2. Everyone else seems to be doing it so we thought what the heck, let's give it a try

We chose the name "Batman & Robin" because we think it suits us best with me(hazri) being the Batman(duh!) and Danial the ever so holly crap Robin.

We're still uncertain on the main contents of this blog but we're sure as hell will try to make it as entertaining as possible. Till then citizens, be safe.

-Batman & Robin-
